I have a HP laptop, Vista HP, and would like to optimize my wirless by seeing what channels the neighbors are using and set mine to run on one with less or no traffic.

I have tried Netstumbler but it will not show anything. Open for suggestions.

Some routers have a site survey feature.

Netstumbler will but I do not think it runs on vista.

Try Wireshark. It's free to download and works with most WLAN cards.

I got Wireshark. I would love to see what my neighbors channels are set to, but I have no idea how to use this program...lol. It is real complex.

@ sgip2000 - Got Wireshark and it's showing data. thanks.

I cannot see any channel info or 802.11 anything to show. Looks like it's only showing my stuff.
    Anyone know the setup?
