Could anyone help me with this problem?

I just recently uninstalled Nod32 ESET Smart Security off of my computer after this problem, and I have no idea what is going on.

Last night I had perfect connection with my ESET working fine, protecting me. But this morning I woke up to being unable to access the internet. I uninstalled the Nod32 ESET Smart Security completely and now my laptop still states that I have a good connection, although anything that requires and internet connection to load [AIM, Firefox] will not load.

I'm willing to cooperate and I have a good sense around a computer but I don't know alot about wireless configurations.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Matthew

Also, my router is a Netgear WGR614v7.

    Thanks again!

reset your router with a pen or pin. hold in the reset button until all the lights go off, then wait 1 minute.
then go to your advanced wireless settings and make sure you are set for Open and Disabled. This means anyone can access your wireless for a little while, but at least you can see if it had to do with resetting your router.

if it works, then you can go to your wireless settings page (usually 192.168.0.1) and change the password... then you will need to change the advanced wireless settings to Shared or WPA or whatever and enter the password there (or just enter it when you try to connect to your wireless)

and make sure your modem isn't on STANDBY mode.

run "ipconfig /all" and see if the DNS and Gateway have IP's. Normally The NDS will have a IP that is not the Routers gateway.

The see if you can "ping yahoo.com" if not you do not have a DNS server IP's.

Firewalls can block your access too. Is this a XP or Vista OS?

I'm assuming that not load means access the www.

In the command prompt, It looks much more different than what I have seen in the past. It does not show my IP addresses.

Also, after resetting my router, I no longer get a connection on my laptop.

I am running Windows XP Media Center

Yes, Gateway and DNS both have IP's now.

Also after typing in ping yahoo.com, I got the following

    PING:Transmit failed, error code 65.

    try connecting to 192.168.0.1

if that works let me know...if not, you're not connected at all, i believe...

you need to make sure you're not accessing the router with some sort of password when the router isn't asking for one.

double click on the wireless thing in your bar (the lower right)..does it say "limited or no connectivity" ? ....click on "Change advanced settings" on the left...go to the Wireless Networks tab..under preferred networks, click your wireless and go to properties...make sure it says open and disabled (i believe)...

if you DO have a password on your router, make sure its shared/wep or whatever and enter your password... resetting your router should have killed the password, though.

    update me when u can

Your dns numbers should not be the same as your gateway. So you do not have a valid DNS servers. Power your router off for 5 min then power backup. Then connect to the router and see if your wan port connected? If not enter the login ifo into the router.

Now if that has not fixed you can do the below procedure, but it only works if your router has a valid connection.

So for a temp fix, connect to your routers admin and look at your wan settings supplied by your isp. Take those number and plug it into Internet Protocol TCP/IP. Can be found under the port-> TCP/IP -> advance or alt connection info.

The very first thing to try is a wired connection. If that works, then you know somethings up with the wireless. As it stands, you've been told to completely wipeout your router's memory w/out even trying this basic 1st step. wtf.

You should also try another computer on the same router and your computer on another router so you can start isolating the problem.

As it stands, you've been led down a road you shouldn't yet be on because you haven't done the first steps of fault isolation.

    This is very strange now.

My internet is connected even after resetting my router, and I still cannot access the programs I visit every day [AOL Instant Messenger, Firefox], but it will let me load up a web page in Internet Explorer. Any help?

    Alright, This is very confusing.

My internet is connected even after resetting my router, and I still cannot access the programs I visit every day [AOL Instant Messenger, Firefox], but it will let me load up a web page in Internet Explorer. Shortly after that, it freezes up. Any help?

It's almost as if the programs I allowed to start by clicking ignore when the prompt comes up, now will not work. When I originally installed ESET, I did not open IE, but everything that I did use while it was installed will no longer open with an internet connection.
