    I am SOOO F***ING PISSED

I just got Hughes Net and it is SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW and hell

I had earthlink DSL and got an amazing 23KBps downloads (that is the top speed)
We tested the bandwidth within the system and 23KBps was the max we could get ( I WANT TO KNOW THAT SITE AGAIN! its linksys that always told me to use it but I forgot what it was... it wasnt like speedtest.net)

And now im supposed to be getting 192KBps (same as DSL but I live to far apparantly so the connection was deteriorated to a point where it was very slow... that may have been BS but who knows)

And now I am getting SLOW SLOW SLOW speeds... Im talking... in 1-2 hours of chatting, email and page loading... I spent an amazing 5 megabytes of downloads... and pages would load in minutes...

     :(

    HAHAHA

Screw Hughes Net I just cancelled !

Satelite internet IS NOT WORTH IT UNLESS YOU BUY THE BUSINESS PACKAGE OR HAVE A VERY VERY HIGH FAP

FAP = Death note to all people who like videos, downloads etc... online

    Fair Access Policy SUCKS ! ! !

I had the Pro Pro consumer version...

Me and my sister went into FAP mode within 42minutes... and then we get dialup speed for 24HRS... NO WAY

So now im buying a second DSL line and merging them in a router/w.e its called connection regulator box...

Thank you for no answers too lol

My father in law has hughes net...what is it like 60 bucks and its doesn't even seem that fast.we've both been online at the same time chattin over the phone and it always seems to take a little time compared to my high speed...we pay the same price for the small town local high speed and we get 100mpbs... thats what it always shows under my network anyways...
so what are u gonna go with now?

    I have earthlink.. always have

    Didnt cancel it...

TRY USING 2wire.com and use the test
it tests the real bandwidth... not the MAX bandwidth

im supposed to get 192KBps but I live too far away so the DSL is slower... with speedtest.net I get 192KBps (after converting kbps to KBps) and on 2wire.com it tells me 23KBps / 200kbps

For people living in the back woods, such as myself, getting internet service can be as much of a laborious chore as waiting for dial-up to connect. My answer was looking into Satellite Internet as a source for my ISP. Since I am already familiar with the operational limitations, the affects of weather, for my DirecTV satellite for my TV source, it was a logical step to just ditch all of the hassle of dial-up out here in the boonies.

Of course, as I have already mention, Satellite TV and High Speed Internet have a long way to go to catch up with DSL, Cable, etc., however, that being said, it's light years beyond dial-up. Even in times of an economic recession, you are not limited to just buying a satellite internet system, there are lease plans available. http://www.infodish.com/Satellite-Internet-Marketing/Lease-HughesNet-Satellite-Internet.aspx http://www.infodish.com/Satellite-Internet-Marketing/Purchase-HughesNet-Satellite-Internet.aspx

Even if you just want to give satellite broadband internet a try in your rural area, there are plans for leasing and purchasing available that can help you test the water a bit before completely committing to ISP. I have seen reviews on the internet about people being against going with a national reseller of HughesNet and they continually suggest, or more bluntly - misguide, the readers into going to a local satellite internet reseller to install and purchase a HughesNet service. DO NOT BE FOOLED. Local resellers will not sell you anything different or provide "better" service than InfoDish. Installing the system and setup will be ultimately allocated through HughesNet regardless of what reseller you purchase from. So why should you consider InfoDish above everyone else? The competitive pricing and service should speak for itself. http://www.infodish.com/Satellite-Internet-Marketing/Lease-HughesNet-Satellite-Internet.aspx

You think 23KBps is amazing download speed? Doesn't sound too good to me. My ISP stinks as well and is also starting to throttle my download speed, with no notice, but I still get better speeds than that when it is working.

So yeah I called Earthlink for 5 hours one day and said if they didnt check the entire connection from my house to their switches I will quit...

Magically after 2 weeks they must of switched ancient switches to new ones since my downloads went from 23KBps (which was AMAZING speed for me back then...) to incredible 192KBps... thats a 700-800% increase...

Now all I need is 1.5Mbps+

Or look into merging 2 lines (if I can even get 2 lines straight to my house) so I can have one merged connection... which could be pretty sweet...

Or just have 2 connections (one for anybody watching movies on hulu etc... or downloading and one for email/browsing/chatting/VOIP etc...)

I also have had an improvement with my service. My Downloads would just hang and then restart after a few minutes. Simple downloads would take hours. Now I am back to normal. Don't know what happened. It had to be something they did at the ISP office. I did some research on this and found that a lot of ISP are throttling download speeds without notice if they feel you are downloading "Too much". This is a grey area since the contract that a lot of them make you agree to is not specific on what is too much. Pretty annoying.

PS - Beatsiz, your cat avatar looks like my friends aunt literally. :D
