It may be technically possible but it doesn't make sense (at least I think so- bear with me for a while)

HDMI 1.4 carries 100mbps Ethernet signal over a HDMI cable (which is a new type of cable- so using an old one won't cut it).
It's meant to give you ability to connect your TV to internet in such a way that a Bluray player/HD decoder or whatever is connected to a router via a normal Ethernet port and then this Bluray player/HD decoder is connected to a TV via HDMI cable that carries not only audio and video but also enable TV to access the Internet.

The reason why it doesn't seem to make sense for a laptop (at least in my opinion) is that you need a in-between device like a HD decoder that has a Ethernet ("in" port) and HDMI 1.4 port ("out" port) . If you connect your laptop to a device like that it should work but it seems rather inconvenient especially if you have a Gigabit Ethernet port in your notebook.

Am asking only because new macbook pro retina doesnt have LAN port so .. and there is HDMI 1.4 .. so it might be connected over it .. But I believe it is NOT supported :)

A USB to Ethernet adapter is the answer to your problems

You would need an HDMI in to do this anyway, not out.
