What should I do If I don't want someone to access a website on my family computer. How can I completely block it? It's actually my daughter. She spends too much time on Facebook and keeps company with bad people. I don't want her to use Facebook any more. I have tried the parental controls, but I think she find way to bypass it. Any suggestion?

If your daughter can bypass parental controls, she would go around other stuff as well.

Seriously, suddenly block a website a kid uses everyday will not stop her from accessing it. She would just try harder.

Kids these days are quite resourceful. If you're not content to just have her name and password to log in and check on her, try the parental shame approach. Create your own facebook profile and make her add you as a friend with no restrictions. Then just start posting on all her status updates - #YOLO SWAG #1BIEBER FAN. That should do it.

Can block it on router, however it will most likely work on phone etc. Using mobile data. Also can simply bypass these using a proxy, like off road mode on opera etc.

Editing the host file would only work on the one pc she uses. Unless you edit it on all of them. Again proxy will bypass this.

The third-party parental control are able to work in a background, so if you will try it and set up a difficult password to your administrator account there is no way that she will broke it. Read about PCWebControl http://www.pcwebcontrol.com/ or net nanny. But remember that she will use it anyway, if not at home, she will use friends' computer...

I have tried quite a few internet filters on my family computer. It is a bit touch-and-go finding good software that offers parents enough control to restrict access to those unwanted sites. By searching in Google, I found Aobo Internet filter is the best filter I have tried. Hope it can help u.

Try K9 web protection. I was able to block twitter and tumblr on my cousin's Macbook using K9. Might work for you. But it's only good for the computer it's installed on. Not all the systems and smartphones in the house.

    Ha Ha Ha :D

That's quite effective, as the phone is cut off as well.

But she'll learn to use VPN anyway.

To block websites, you can try the following ways:
    1. You could install a free personal firewall or web filter software to block any website.
    2. If you have a router, it has a built-in administrator page that allows you to control what is accessible on the internet and what is not. However, , it actually depends on the complexity of the router's software.
    3. If using IE, you could also edit the list of restricted sites (tools- internet options-security - restricted sites), but this may not help you if you are using some other browser.

I would firstly modify hosts file to block facebook, then add a rule to the firewall to strenghten the wall :)
