    Hi folks,

I am runing Vista Home Premium, 64-Bit and have updated from SP1 to SP2.

I connected my laptop to a Local Network Cable and then I unhooked it again ... but when I did an ipconfig/all ... I noticed that under Ethernet Adpater Local Area Connection ... the DNS Suffix has taken that LAN's name ...

Q1: How do I delete that "NAME"?

I researched it and did the following commands in cmd.exe with Admin Rights with NO positive result ...

    - Netsh int ip reset reset.log
    - ipconfig/flushdns
    - ipconfig/registerdns
    - ipconfig/release
    - ipconfig/renew

I even went to Device Manager and under "Network Adapters" did View Hidden and Deleted the Entry ... but it keeps coming back.

BTW, I tried all these while I am NOT any longer connected to that LAN connection.

Q2: Do I need to be connected to the LAN again to get rid of this DNS Suffix?

Q3: If I connect to another LAN ... would it Overwrite this pesky Name?

BTW, please make your solutions or steps "dummy-Proof"! :D

    Thanks,

    G!

Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Manage network connections > right-click the connection > Properties > Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) > Properties > Advanced > DNS tab

You should see some settings for managing DNS suffixes here.

    Hi Swarmer,

Boy I got so excited and tried it out just now ... and neither my DNS Suffix Name nor my Tunnel Adapter got cleared!

I am thinking wither connect to another Network ... and might write this one over ... But I "Doubt" it.

Or ... just do a restart of my laptop ... Fresh Install and go thru the entire updates for the SP1.

But I will wait a bit to see if anyone else can suggest something less drastic as my solution.

    Appreciate Your Help again!

    G! :)
