So, I have a toughbook with a high power engenius card, bluetooth with 2or3dbi antenna, wwan (1700/2100mhz) card, and then also have my 3g cell phone siting there next to it.
Now I have my laptop mounted in my van, and am exposed to my running laptop and cell phone for the better part of the day (8hrs????total)

    SO, lemme see....

    400mw wifi
200mw wwan sierra wireless 860 pcmcia card
45mw bluetooth usb dongle with 2dbi antenna
    200mw 3g cell phone (cliq 2)
is......845mw, or almost 1 watt of close range microwave radiation......
I do turn off either the wwan or wifi when not in use (1 or the other, but rarely both)

let's not forget that I also run a wrt54g AP running dd-wrt as a reapeater, turned up to 150mw at home (behind the couch)

    all that can't be safe.

Typical mobile phone has transmit power of up to 1W in poor signal conditions so your setup is more or less as safe/unsafe as cellphone related studies suggest.
