I have got my new Vostro 1400 laptop but i do not have a wireless router. But i have my desktop with the cable modem. In the cable modem i put the ethernet cable so that the modem and the laptop were connected. But whenever I try to use the Internet on my laptop it does not work. How do i make it work? Do i need to set up a "network" between the pc and laptop and if so how? Or what else should I be doing?

Btw im using Vista Home Premium on the laptop and XP Home edition on the desktop.

ANY help will be appreacited and I will rep those who help me in any way.

    Thx

Go to my network places, click setup home or small office network double click and follow directions. Also make sure your network adapter is enabled >>My computer right click properties click hardware click device manager, scroll down to network adapters check each make sure they're enabled. This is in windows XP,should be that much different I'm thinking.
