I hope I find my answer here, because yesterday I literally spent hours trying to find out how to this and came up with nothing.

    Here's the deal:
Laptop 1 = In Another Room. Wirelessly connected to modem (or router, or whatever it's called)
Laptop 2 = In My Room. Wirelessly connected to modem (or router, or whatever it's called)

I would like to share files and the printer connected to laptop 1, with laptop 2.

Please don't tell me anything that has to do with the network setup wizard, because I've already tried. If you do, then please give me a very detailed guide.
By the way, I did read the sticky but found nothing that helped me.

    Thanks guys, Seriously

Right click on the drive or printer you want to share and hit Sharing. Then give it a share name and you're done. Check the firewall settings to make sure it allows connections otherwise you may not see it.

I already did that but I also want to share the files, not only the printer.

Make sure you have File and Printer Sharing turned on. You will find it under your port properties/protocols. Then if you want to share files, def is Shared Folder, just drop them in there. Other wise locate the folder, rt click properties, then sharing. Share is easier if your running XP and not Vista. Vista is and can be a PITA.

If you have personal firewalls , you must make local traffic (subnet) trusted. Other wise it will block any attempt of pc to connect.

Should show up under View Network Computers (My Network Places). or You can connect via FTP using a ftp client software. FTP is all most twice as fast as SMB. I like using Filezilla. Will require you to know the IP address of the pc. Or you can use add a network share.

Download FileZilla. Then add a new connection. Enter the IP address of the pc you want to connect to. You will need to change connection to active mode if auto does not work. This setting tells it how to go through firewalls. Once the connection is made you can drag and drop or move the files you want to exchange in to the lower part QUE. The process all at once.

Another goo program is SynToys by MS. It is for sync pc to server or NAS. Work fine with pc to pc. And it free.

But since you can not see it, can you ping it from your pc?

I can now see the laptop 1 in the entire network, but when i try to access it i get "<workgroup> is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. the network path was not found".

Right Click on your folder or drive you wish to share and select sharing. (first image)

Then Click Advanced sharing. Give your drive a shared name, and click permissions. (image 2). Press add in share permissions.

Type your user name into the object name and click check name, then press ok. (image 3).

Back in the share permissions select your user name and click full control check box so that change and read are also selected. (image 4) Then ok out of the boxes.

Now do the same on your other computer with the folders you wish to share. If this doesn't make sense, let me know.
