I would like to send an encrypted email to someone from my hotmail account.
What is the process involved in doing this?

There's no way of doing this via a web-based e-mail (at least not one that would be secure).
An annoying-yet-secure method would be to use PGP (unregistered version) to manually encrypt a text file and then copy its contents to an e-mail.
Major drawback is pretty obvious- you'd have to have PGP installed on the computer you'd use.
