Hey all, Got a cheap NAS caddy PLUSCOM 35NAS-RDC3282. It works really well, Im just trying to setup the print sharing and the FTP server.

To fully use it it ideally needs to be set on a static IP address, I have turned of my DHCP on my Router and then assigned a static address for all my network.

Network runs fine. The NAS has turned itself onto its own DHCP to assign a address for the network. However when I change it to static on the setting to fit my network address range I hit apply and it just resorts back to auto ip!

FTP is not accessible outside my network by my friend.

here is the nas manual to cast an eye over, I am not the most savvy but to be fair this isn't really complex stuff. I can FTP with Filezilla, I could use samba until I changed network to static address.
So I set the router backup to DHCP and then tried to use static ip setting on the NAS but it just reverts back to auto as soon as I click apply??

what I suspect is causing the biggest issues is, the router is assigned to address range 192.168.0.2-192.168.0.254 and address is 192.168.0.1 the nas is assigning itself 169.254.0.1
