I currently have Verizon DSL service, Westell 2200 modem hard wired to a desktop. I want to set up a wireless network to use a laptop and wirless printer for now. I just bought a D-Link 655 wireless router. In the set up instructions, it says you must disabe or remove any PPPoE software from your computer in order to connect to the internet. I am running Windows XP Home, SP3. I cannot find any software such as WinPoet, Broadjump or Ethernet 300 as indicated in the D-Link instructions. Where do I find this and how do I disable it?

I have the DIR-655, and all I did was plug the router into my modem, set up wireless security, and start surfing the web and transferring files on my home network.

According to Verizon and D-Link, I have to change my modem to bridge mode in order to get online with the router.

I'm sure D-Link's instructions are good...all you have to do is follow them to a T...use the Wizard if you have to...basically all you should have to do is connect the D-Link Wireless Router to the Modem via the WAN/Internet Port on the Router using an ethernet cable that should come w/ the Router, configure the Router and you should be riding the waves.

If you need to change your modem to bridge mode, you don't have to mess with the router. You'll have to contact Verizon for specific instructions on how to modify settings on your modem.

What the are saying is that the connection info on the desktop (id & pw) to the PPPoE section in the router. Then you need to change the pc config not to auto connect.

That's exactly what I did. The modem needed to be changed to bridge mode so I could connect. Everything works fine now. I only did the WEP encryption, but I am going to change it to WAP tomorrow. No problems getting the laptop to connect, the desktop is hard wired so it is fine. I have a new wireless printer to add too, probably tomorrow when I have time. Thanks to all for the help.
