I recently got a Cisco Linksys E1200 router and I wanted to set it up, but the result was that there was no internet connection. I tried connecting both modem and router, and doing the setup but, I still couldn't connect through the internet. Even power recycling troubleshooting wasn't working for me. I made the router go back to factory default settings so I may start over. I am new with routers but I want to see what I did wrong and hopefully I may get help.

So does anyone know how I can make my router work?

    Router: Cisco Linksys E1200
    Modem: Motorola NVG510 (AT&T)

Motorola NVG510 has an inbuilt router and a Wi-Fi access point.
If you want to set it up properly you have to bridge the Motorola ( like so) and switch off the Wi-Fi.

At this point Motorola will not be a combo device anymore- it will only work as a modem device. Even the login and password will be fed by a Linksys router.

Then you move to cables- Internet WAN cable obviously goes into the modem but an Ethernet cable from one of modem's (Motorola's) Ethernet ports has to go to Linksys' WAN port (not one of the regular Ethernet ports).

Once it's done you log in to Linksys router and choose WAN connection type as "PPoE" and type in your Internet login/username and password (the ones received from AT&T) and choose either "connect automatically" or "keep-alive" (meaning the Internet will be on all of the time rather than on demand).

I know it might sound complicated but it isn't.
