I just bought my new wireless router DLink DI-624.. I manage to set it up and update the firmware. I got my desktop connected to it wired so that I can do all the setup. After all the setups, then i try using 2 of my notebooks to connect to it but both of my notebooks cant connect to it despite both able to view the wireless router.

I try tweaking here & there but still both my notebooks cant connect to it. Do any1 knw why & wat is happening? Im certainly a noob to this kind of networking. Cracking my head just to figure out how to get both my notebooks to connect wirelessly.

Is your connection like this; DSL/Cable router----Router----Desktop?

The DSL cable should be connected in the WAN port and then a cable from one of the 4 connectors should be into the desktop.

You can also check if the connections in properties are working aswell.

    on the router:

    - make sure all your wifi stuff is wide open (no security set up). this is just to make sure that you can actually connect, once you know you are able to do so, then you can start locking stuff down.

    on the computer:

    - turn off your firewall (again, this is just for testing purposes, once you're good to go, you can turn it back on)
    - make sure the wifi card is actually turned on

Do u mean on the wireless router, I off all the security settings like WEP. Is there anymore security settings instead of this WEP or WPA or WPA2. Just in case I left out all the security settings coz to me I only know there is this 3 security settings existed in wireless router.

I tried turning off my notebook firewall and this time it able to connect but with limited or no coverage connection where I cant evn connect to the net at all. On checking up on the ip address, it doesnt received the proper ip address from the wireless router despite the DHCP is ON. An automatic IP is address to it instead like the ip started with 165.xxx.xxx.x

Your setup is good, so it's probably a software problem. Make sure everything is on (modem, wireless router, and NIC on laptop) Go to the control panel, click on network connections, then wireless network connection.Click on "view network connections" and click on the one that is yours. it should work.

umm, what do u mean ON the NIC on the Laptop? I tot the NIC is always ON. I did go into "view network connections" & try to connect to my wireless router. The notebook I use to connect to the wireless router, it gave me limited or no coverage. Is it my software prob?

I had a lot of headaches trying to get my DI-624 to work with my E1505. Wireless was giving me the same problems you have mentioned. Turned out to be a firmware issue.

Here is a good source of information for that router:
