My laptop's internet goes amazingly slow when it is not plugged into a power source. However, once it is plugged in, it goes amazingly fast.

Does anyone know what the problem could be? I really want to take my laptop different places and most likely wont always have access to an outlet.

How long have you had the battery? Has it gone through 3-500 charges? You may want to also tinker with the power savings settings.

I've had it for around 3 months.

What do you mean tinker? The only thing I've down was switch it from high performance to battery saver every so often.

It sounds like an odd hardware problem. Make sure you dont have random stuff running in the background you dont need do a spyware check and clean your computer. Try using Ccleaner or getting speed up my PC 3 and Registry Booster 2 (which you do have to pay for but with a little research you can get the codes to unlock the full version for free). It seems like your wireless card isnt getting enough power for its signal or something but I have no idea, is it any different when your near your wireless router? Or even when you have it actually plugged into your cable or DSL

Edit: Try using a different external USB network adapter like a cheep from from linksys or something. Go to Office Depot or Best Buy and pick up the cheapest one you can find

It's not Spyware or anything, I just reformatted. It's the same regardless of where I go, as long as it's plugged in, it's fine.

Try using a USB network adapter than and turning off the regular built in notebook adapter. And again, is it the same if you plug it straight into the DSL or the cable right from the modem?

Your power management is slowing everything down to conserve power. You will need to adj your settings to say at 100% power.
