I have been half trying on and off for the past year to network my PS3 so I can watch movies that are on my notebook via my PS3. I am never able to find my notebook as a media server on the PS3. I have used Windows Media 11 to share my notebook library but still can't find it on my PS3. I know this has something to do with UPnP. Both my wireless router and the PS3 have this enabled. Currently I'm looking at other UPnP software out there. Anyways I really want to get this working any help would be much appreciated.

Did you try posting this on the PlayStation forum? Anyhow..happy reading... Click.

I use WMP11 to do this just fine...it's very easy IMO. After reading if you still have issues be sure to post.

Edit: BTW, UPnP doesn't need to be enabled on the Router for this to work.

Hint: Make sure the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service is Started and set to Manual or Automatic. Start--> Run type services.msc and hit enter.

Thanks makaveli72, but I have already found that site prior to posting my OP.

I don't have this option described in step 4:

    4. From the list of devices under the [Share media] checkbox, select the devices that you want to share data with, and then select [Allow].

The "allow" button is greyed out I can't select it. In the box above it I see computer icon with a green check mark on it. It says Other users of this PC. No idea what that means or is.

I notice when I check my PS3 network status list it shows that UPnP is not available. It was when I set the network connection. I also constantly get dropped from PSNetwork when trying to find media server. Actually always get dropped form PSnetwork all the time regardless what I'm doing. Clearly this post belongs in PS3 forums. Sorry all. I'll keep searching. Cheers
