Can anyone recommend a wireless router that is secure and wont drop out every 5 mins? I have 4 lan machines and 3 802.11g laptops. I currently have a cheap D-Link 524 but the last time I tried it (9 Month ago) it wasn't as good as I would have liked.

I have looked at the D-Link DGL-4300 and it looks pretty good. Yeah it has a n00b "Gamer" tag on it, but the specs and depth of options look good.

So any suggestions would be helpful :p

Possibly a best in $50, $75, $100 and $100+ choices would make it easyer for my selection. I'm open up to just about any brand, dlink, linksys or netgear.

    THANKS!

Unless you have a need for extended range I would buy on price as most will work well for internet. I have the NetGear WPN824. It works fairly well.

Since you have a lot of computers, you might want to think about 108Mbps. Maybe the Netgear WGT624. Since you have 7 computers, with standard 54Mbps, each computer is limited to about 7.4 Mbps. Which can be slow while networking and sending/recieving files between computers. Maybe check my guide if you wish (link in my sig).

    Thanks.

I just read your sticky and remembered about the WRT54GL. It may not be the fastest router in the world, but the fast ones that interest me and just too much money. So I'll just take a full featured over a comperable priced higher speed router.

BTW why are AP more money than routers? IMO I'd rather have an AP over a router, as its eayier to add to an existing network. Yeah I can setup a wireless router as an AP, but meh.
