Im taking over a cabling Job from a recently in the hospital guy, and the whole job has to be re-quoted for me & one person. its a dentist's office nad has a quite a few different drop locations. im approxamating that im going to be droping a total of 35 cat6, 17 cat5 for voice, 4 for tv, 4 Coaxial lines, & 12 Audio lines.im not sure what i should be charging per drop really, most drops are 2 Data & 1 phone but there are the a few that are 1 cat5 one cat6 ,the TV lines & the audio line. im used to quoting off of cost, but im not sure what an apropriate per drop would be. FWIW, almost all the runs are 70-100ft per drop a few that are longer 5 that are very short from the patch panel. the false celings arent in yet so hanging will be easy since i have 10 ft ladders and a few 8 footers.

    any suggestions would be great!

    thanks

    Danny

Criminey--that is a HUGE dentist office.

I don't do cabling, but last time I checked for someone else it was between $125 and $150 per drop depending on the circumstances using Plenum--sounds like the suspended ceiling will make things easy so you might be to the lower end.

Why do you need to requote? Price per drop should be per drop, not per worker.

It also depends where you are located? I am in NYC and I do low-voltage cabling from time to time. Most pros around here charge 150-250 per drop. I always charge less because I don't do just cabling. I did a job in midtown Manhattan a couple of years back and charged them around $160 per drop for 100 drops of 1 voice/1 data per drop. The same job in Queens I would do for $120 per drop. You have to factor in your costs for materials, but also the headaches and logistics of the job. That's why for example Manhattan prices are considerably more than other parts of the city. I can only speak for NYC of course. It sounds like an easy job from your description so you might want to factor that in too. Just stay competitive with what others in your area are charging. Don't go too high, and don't go too low.

yeah it is its a wherehouse thats being turned into a full service dentist office. ortho, oral surgery & general dentistry...its rediculous. re quoting beacuse it involves more than what the guy had originally quoted, he may have been lowballing to get the job and was gonna slam them with more costs, IDK.......its going to be a total of 71 seperate drops with some vga& hdmi involved. also doing security cams & i guess im gonna do the patch Panel(mehh) what should i charge to do the panel, most places around here dont so them, usually the server guy does it, but i guess hes not this time... i fiure ill charge about $200 per drop since its plenum & there are 4 lines per drop on most of them and some are like 250 ft length drops...meh climbing ladders
