I am looking to set up a wireless network at our house as we have moved from a single computer family to a multiple laptop family. What I need to know is the following:

    1. What is a good router to get for about $100 that can handle 4 wireless laptops and a wired desktop? The signal would need to be able to go through several walls and a floor as the router will go on the second floor.
    2. Can i hook up a printer for use by everybody without hooking the printer up to each computer when we want to print?

My computer is Draft-N capable but none of the others are so N capable routers are not necessary but possibly preferred?

It doesn't matter what brand, any of the major ones will do fine. So either a linksys, dlink, netgear, buffalo, belkin etc will work just fine.

Tho some people have been having weird problems with the netgear, and seems that the linksys is the most popular. But it doesn't matter really, as they all will get the job done the same.

Yes you can set up a printer sharing wirelessly, and everyone on the network will be able to access the printer.

Ok here's the Top list for routers right now

For a simple working out of the box N router the DIR-655 by D-link. Make sure to get Revision A2. It's on the box the new one sucks because of a new processor and reduced RAM.

If you're willing to mess with DD-WRT then you have the Linksys WRT-350, 300, 150N and the 54GL.The later 350 and 300 later revisions don't support DDWRT but the version that do are tanks.

Buffalo makes good routers as well another good one is the Asus WL500.
