I'm having a problem connecting my laptop to the internet with adsl modem. I'm using utp lan cable to connect my laptop to the ethernet port of the modem.
Also, i'm using Vista. The system tray says I'm connected to the internet but I couldn't even ping any IP address.
The problem is it shows two connections; Network and Unidentified Network. I tried disabling one of the connection but both connections were disabled instead of one. I tried checking the ipconfig with cmd prompt and it shows two default gateways in which one of them is 0.0.0.0
I have tried plug in the Lan cable to my desktop pc running xp and it works fine.
This is a screenshot showing there's only one LAN connection but multiple network connections:
if it doesn't work, here is the link: http://img224.imageshack.us/my.php?i...0491547nq0.jpg
Can anyone help me solve the problem?

Do you have a firewall blocking your connection?
your link does not work. -
i think ive tried turning off firewall, there seems to be problem connecting with LAN cable to the internet using Vista. But today i bought Edimax 11g wireless router in hope that i could connect to the internet.
however, there's problem, my laptop can detect the wireless router, and connect to it. but still it cannot connect to the internet. but when i used the lan cable from the wireless router to my laptop, it worked.
now, this is where it gets weird, i went to the 'connect to' and connects to the wireless router while i'm connected to the internet with LAN Cable (from the wireless router), and click connects and it says i'm successfully connected to the wireless network. so i unplug the lan cable from my laptop and my laptop is still connected to the internet as long as i'm in range of the wireless router. but when i'm reboot my pc (or maybe if i get disconnected) i can't connect to the internet anymore. and i have to reconnect the lan cable again to get connected which is really annoys me.
anyone have solution to the problem? thanks -
Have you checked all of the IP addresses on the various pieces of hardware, including both the ethernet card and wireless card in your notebook, on the wireless router, and on the adsl modem?
Amongst other things, it sounds like you might have incompatible IP addresses. -
the problem solved. It was the ip addresses. Thanks for helping guys.
