Well I've just gotten my Inspiron 1505 and ever since I took it out of the box my wireless / network connections don't seem to be functioning correctly.

    Problems:

    1. My internet says it's connected to a wireless network with a speed of 54mbs, but when I actually open Internet explorer, it just gives me a blank page. Any suggestions?

    2. I also tried to link my notebook with my desktop via ethernet cable. But in all honesty I have no idea what I'm doing here. They don't seem to be reading each other. Any suggestions here?

It sound like your router IS working, but your modem is either not working or it's not plugged in to your router. This is the most likely situation. After you have confirmed by telling me another computer works with the same eithernet that doesn't work with your laptop I will give you further instructions.

Pm me if I do not respond here. Hard to find old topics.

I've copied your post to my other thread so I can keep my problems a bit more contained.

Thanks for the replies too! I should have read that guide before I started deleting stuff!

Great. Well, in the event that I deleted something I shouldn't have, is all that stuff on Dell's repair CD? Or do I need to go looking on the internet?
