I updated my Intel driver on my I6000 from a link provided in the large wireless networking 2200 thread. I uninstalled the previous driver, restarted, installed new driver, restarted. Now, I have the new Intel interface (which is nice ;-) and it is able to find my Airport network (which connected fine previously except for some drop outs, which I was hoping to fix with this driver) and connect to it. BUT, the Wireless Network Connection icon flashes that I have "limited or no connectivity" and may not be able to access the internet. It's telling me the Wifi signal is strong and at 54MB/s but no connectivity. I opened the Network window and tried to "Repair" the connection but it fails stating:

Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed:
    Renewing your IP address
For assistance, contact the person who manages your network.

Anyone know how to fix this?

You might need to re-enter the SSID, or they might have it password protected.

The SSID is the network ID. The other thing is if it is password protected...you will be able to connect, but not be able to access everything.

What version of the driver did you choose? There are a million links to drivers in the 2200 thread. Did you get the latest one with the Intel panel that handles everything for you? I've found that this works best.. It even works with the LinkSys routers that most of the previous versions had troubles with.

Got it. It's my home network with just an iMac and I6000 connected and I have entered the password.

Yes. Definitely using the most recent driver from 16Jan2006. The interface is slightly different in that the previous version from September (or November?) had two panels listing available and connected networks, this one has them all in one panel. I think it's 9.0.3.9 and the update seems to have mostly modified the interface rather than the actual driver I had installed.

Well, I guess this is a case of "therapeutic posting" because after several resets, this "limited connectivity..." issue appeared to have resolved itself. Now the signal strength is "excellent" as it was before and the signal quality is "very good" instead of none. This is sorta strange, however, because previously my signal quality was ALWAYS "excellent" and in the past few minutes of watching the signal quality it has not gone above "very good". I had Roaming Aggressiveness set to the highest setting and Power Management set to highest setting as well. I tried decreasing Roaming Aggressiveness to second from the bottom and Power Management in the middle setting, but no change to the signal quality (which is probably unrelated anyway). Anyone else notice this with the new driver?

when i get those errors I always use a program called winsockXPfix. I don't know what it does, but it works so I keep using it. Maybe you can also give it a try, its free and it doesn't install anything.

Why don't you just rollback to the previous driver? It was working fine then, wasn't it?
