    Hi all,
i am looking to get a wireless router,
In particular it should be able to have multiple rule sets for different ports.
I am personally looking for something to control access to / from Limewire
MSN, and all them fun teenager things that distract from homework.
i would also like to have a router that gives some detailed logs as to sites/ip's visited by people on the network..

I presently have a netgear 614 wired router.. it seems to get flaky when i try and enter too many rules and isn't very robust with it's scheduling.
That is, I only have one schedule to block ports or sites.. I can't seem to control different sites with different schedules. (or is that even possible??)

I would like to stay within the DLINK/Netgear/Linksys models.
Right now I have a di 624 from costco.. and will give it a go, but i am looking for some advice as to if there is something better out there.

    any suggestions?

    thanks

    Hi there,
So I gets me a dlink 624+ blah blah..
and well it was dropping connections as soon as i got the dang thing hoooked up..
as such, i went and got myself a linksys, and it seems to work fairly well.
However. it is version 5. and the logging isn't as much as i want it to be.. :(
If i see if can find a version 4. will that allow me to get better logging or help me find firmware/software that will do better logs for me? Presently the only thing i get to see is incoming and outgoing traffic. it doesn't show what is being blocked nor does it show the actual web address.. it only shows the accesses and traffic by IP
    thanks for the advice.

    Yes Nik, you were Right.
however, if I can't get a version 4 of the router, will a wrt54 GL work the same? i.e. be able to support other firmware.

Either way, what firmware is good out there? the sveasoft stuff?
or some of the free stuff?

    thanks in advance for advice.

The WRT54GL should be fine, but i would try to look for version 4 of the current router

You can get the firmware from www.linksys.com
