    Help! My Linksys WPC54G wireless card is not connecting to the internet, and I can't figure it out. It has found an access point, but no internet even though it is right next to the DSL router. Any help? Thanks! :)

    sounds as if it's your router is not connected to the web that is the issue.

    I assume you rebooted already and also have tried to reset your router settings? If you wrote down your ISPs setup instructions or have the email handy then make sure and double check the router.

    If you are running XP then you can also "REPAIR" the connection itslef by right clicking over the icon for the connection and selecting the repair option.

    If that does not work then I would uninstall the network card itself in CONTROL PANEL~SYSTEM~HARDWARE then shut down after uninstalling the device.

    The WPC54G can be a flaky card at times too...you can also try this method:

    Start~Run type in cmd click OK (or run, or whatever)
    at the command prompt type in:
    IPCONFIG /RELEASE {then press enter/return key}
    IPCONFIG /RENEW {then press enter/return key}

    Then see what happens when you try and acess the internet...

    We have had Verizon DSL for a couple of months, and I just recently got a wireless card for my Toshiba laptop. I installed it with all the default settings and it was able to find the acces point (I have hardly any idea what that is), but it can't find the internet and won't load a page.

    wait I think ZX asked the right question. are you sure you are connecting to your wifi router or that it even is a wifi router or modem. Are ya sure your have a wireless (wifi for short) router/modem?

    It really does sound like you found the neighbor's wifi setup...and they saw something funny in the number of connections. So, they might have changed things on on their setup thus no internet access for you...and don't worry it happens!! ;) But I would hate to see a lot of time spent on this if it's an even more fundamental issue.

    Ya might help him out here and post exactly what devices you have...as in what router and what DSL modem.
