recently I bought a Dell Studio 1737 laptop, I *stupidly* uninstalled Vista in hopes of being able to use XP Pro on it, but I couldn't find the drivers for XP so I re-installed Vista. problem is, upon using the re-installation disc, it didn't install any of the drivers. it only installed the base operating system, so i've been searching on the internet for literally at least 4 hours now trying to find the drivers I need :(

I still have 4 devices in the device manager I am unsure of and need help:

under other devices with a yellow exclamation mark (!):
    Ethernet Controller
    Network Controller
    SM Bus controller
    Unknown Device

I am now incredibly frustrated because when I first got the laptop Vista was installed on it already, and everything worked perfectly. I was connected to the internet within about 5 minutes of turning it on, now however, it can't even detect it :(

If anyone can help or guide me to a place to look for help, please do, I don't know what network card or anything it has but the spec of the laptop is here:

You should be able to get all the drivers you need from here.

Ethernet Controller = Broadcom - Driver
Network Controller = Intel - Driver (under Network)
SMBus might come under GM45 Express Chipset Family
lol unknown might be ricoh card reader

Thanks so much for your help, I only have 1 thing left in the device manager and that's the unknown device - it wasn't the Ricoh driver apparantly.
    Any ideas?

In Device Manager, right click 'Unknown Device' go to Properties -> Details -> Hardware Ids and post the first line.

    eg. PCI\VEN_8086\DEV_3582\SUBSYS_018d

    Value:
    ACPI\ITE8708
    *ITE8708

I'm not sure if the I\I bit is L\L or i\i, but thats from the details section

fantastic! all the drivers are installed and everything is working! :) thank you so much!
another unrelated question, not sure if you'll be able to answer it either; for some reason i can't hold down the shift or ctrl keys and continually have the effect work (for example in an online game if i have a skill or something set to shift/ctrl i have to repeatedly tap the key to spam it, i can't hold it to spam it.) any idea how to fix this?
