First of all, i can say on your computer there is a wireless network and it is a good strong connection like you said. For example: If you have router, it doesnt even need to be connected to the internet, just on. It will say there is a wireless network. Now, how to get wireless on your computer. Try setting up a internet connection by: Start, Control Panel, (Make sure your in the classic view with all the icons). Then click on Network Connection and over to the left under network tasks, click on create a new connection, and go from there. That should be it. Let me know. :) :)

In IE, go to Tools/Internet Options then click the Connections tab then put the dot in "Never Dial A Connection".

If the school has an IT dept. ask someone there. Otherwise ask one of the other students ... you're sure to find someone with the answer.

It's possible you're schools network uses a Proxy to gain access to the internet. You need to go into IE -> Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN Settings and put in the correct Proxy information.
