Okay I just got a Linksys WRT54G router and I'm having some trouble. I really don't have a clue when it comes to wireless so please bare with me. Okay I set it up, made a WPA security settting with my name and password for the access point. I have a fine connection and everything works great just using my computer. But when I use a laptop and connect to the my router, my computer internet connection stops working and it says some sort of interrupted error or somthing, obvisosuly its because the notebook is taking over or something, can I get some help here?
Also, when I tried to install the newest firmware for it on Linksys.com its a bin file and I cannot open it???
The router basically came with no directions, do they expect people just to completely know what to do whe it comes to wireless?

If you have a FW running on your pc's, you need to add a firewall rule to allow it to work. Also depending on ISP, you may need to clone/spoof MAC address of the used to setup the account into the router. If not needed will not hurt any thing.
If you have hangup/lockup (no responce) it's the router. The last one I setup was really bad on locking up. The reason I do not recommend them. -
How do I know which ports to open up on the firewall?

DD-WRT is a third party firmware that is Linux based. It alows you to have more functionality with your linksys router. for example you can overclock it, increase the strength of you wireless signal in order to increase it's range and it also allows you to prioritise data being uploaded and downloaded through the router. for example games. If you want to give priority to multiplayer games when online, you can do that. it's very usefull
