Ok, so we recently got internet at my place of residence through clear, and we've had this wireless router since before we moved into our current place of residence. I've been able to connect to the router previously (although with a few minor random cutoffs). the router works fine with my roommate's laptop; she can connect to the network both wirelessly and through hardwire. I, however cannot connect wirelessly. only through an ethernet cable am i able to connect. the message i get from our particular network on the list reads, "the settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements for the network." what settings would i have to change, if i can, to be able to connect wirelessly?

i have an intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG card, and a linsys 2.4GHz 802.11b router. any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

To connect wirelessly you need to set the following on your computer's wireless management software.
    - SSID of the wireless router
    - security type: WEP, WPA, WPA2, there may be others
    - encryption type: AES, TKIP, there may be others
    - security passphrase or key

Set these to match whatever you set them to on the router and you should be able to connect.
You may want to check out Nick Spoon's Wireless Guide. It's the first post in the notebookreview networking forum. Here'a link:

    What OS?

Most likely those "settings" might be security/password related. But you stated that you've used it before so idk, maybe she changed the network pass key and didn't tell you and is playing games with you? :)

Nevertheless, you'll want to remove the saved profile for the Wireless Router on your computer. Follow these instructions to remove the Wireless Network profile. After removing the Router's profile you will want to scan for the Wireless Router again and select to connect to it to create a new profile. You should be prompted to enter the encryption key to connect to it. Once it connects, it should be smooth sailing from there.

Edit: Well gmoney beat me to it. Quicker typer than me I guess.
