    Hard disk Drive access with Wifi

    i get a unsecure wifi signal while using my laptop.............when i connected to it was displaying as LOCAL AREA NETWORK AND INTERNET on the connection window......

    well if we use connections like this can the actual person who set this network access my HDD ............

    when i looked into network connections I couldnot find any other device or computer there................but can others access my PC from the network

    Only the shared folders on your HDD. IF that is active, that is.

    Using a random, unsecured wireless network is never a good idea.

    There is a default hidden C$ share that can be hacked.

    Never connect to wifi networks that you dont know.

    Yes they can view any shared folders on your HDD by entering your IP Address in Windows Explorer, using a Run command or by browsing though My Network Places.

    And as flip mentioned above the C drive on all computers are Shared but hidden by default...using your IP Address followed by \C$ will show all the folders on that drive. :D

    Moral of this story, do not connect to Unsecured Networks.
