So I just recently had vista ultimate and decided I didn't want it anymore and used my recovery xp disc and reinstalled it and deleted the partition. I have a dell e 1405. The install went good but it made the wifi not work and the media direct not work.. any ideas on what to do? anything I can download? help me!

Sounds like you deleted the partition Media Direct was on.

Did you install the drivers for the wireless card? You can download them right off intel.com

You did hit FN-F2 to make sure your card is transmitting i'll assume?

There is a guide on the dell website giving instructions on the order to install the drivers and which one are needed.
