    Folks,

I am at a loss and need some advice. I have a HP tc4200 tablet running XP Tablet 2005 SP2. The issue is the notebook is unable to switch networks.

Scenario 1: Notebook is docked at work and connected via ethernet (1Gig). At the end of day, I would put the notebook into hibernation. When I get home I would "resume" my session on the notebook but this time via wireless. The Intel/PRO wireless software shows an excellent connection and the notebook shows everything is working (via IPCONFIG /ALL). However, the notebook won't connect to the internet. I am unable to ping even the router. It is as if the wireless card didn't get control of the network function.

The only way to get the notebook to connect wirelessly is to reboot the PC.

Scenario 2: Notebook is connected via wireless at home or another location. I put the notebook on hibernation. When I resume at another location, the notebook connects wirelessly to the AP. Again, using IPCONFIG / ALL the notebook has a valid IP address, DNS, and gateway. However, like the scenario above, I am unable to connect to the internet. It does work though if I hibernate and resume under the same wireless network.

Additional specs: Pentium M2.0, 1Gig RAM, Intel 2200BG running 9.0.3.9 driver, Broadcom ethernet using driver 7.80.1.0. The notebook also has a software called WIRELESS ASSISTANT that automatically shuts off the wireless card if it detects a hard wire ethernet connection.

Appreciate any help. I have spoken with HP a number of times and have not gotten very far.

    Thanks.

Try doing the repair wireless connection. Also, re download the same driver for the card. Yes, when you restart the computer, it restarts the card, i heard repairng the connection help this. :p

Do you try switching the network on your own? Post your IP results on here so we can see. (Comand Prompt> ipconfig

hm exactly my problem. If the computer goes to stand-by /or hibernation/, the network card won't wake up with the rest of the devices. I'm using only ethernet and hoped that switching to wireless would help but obviously not. Repair connection does not work; logging off does not work; Unchecking "allow windows to turn this device off...." doesn't work...
I have L2005 with Broadcom network card, integrated modem, wireless and bluetooth. I thought the problem might be with the card itself but now it seems some settings may fix it.
Have you updated your driver from Windows Update? I did it and now I'm thinking what will happen if I return the original HP driver.

Latest Update on TC4200 Tablet PC:

Called HP support and they sent me a replacement mini-PCI Intel 2200BG card for the notebook. I have installed the new card and so far I am able to switch between wireless and ethernet (wired) without issues coming from hibernation.

Will send another update after a couple days. So far so good.

Just to mention in case someone else experiences the same problem. I use Kaspersky Anti-hacker, and windows detects it, everything is OK with the security center. Yet, I had both Kaspersky and Windows firewalls, which appears to have caused the problem. So, don't run two firewall's at the same it, I guess this should be the conclusion
