I recently saw that HP was the first out of the gate with a home server running Windows Home Server software, I researched this thing up and down and found the pros and cons about the hardware and the OS, aside from this just google it and you can get a ton of info on it, is there anybody considering anything like this or just go with some kind of NAS, personaly I find HP wants too much money for what it is and it looks like MS is just offering the OS with OEM hardware, after reading the MS site for the Home Server OS, I sort of felt that MS was trying to prod the reader by saying you need this hardware and software in the typical MS fashion, I like the idea of a home server but it was the list of cons that have the things I want.
Whats your point of view or if you are an owner of this thing, please chime in, love to here more from people on both sides of the fence.
Currently Im using a D-link DNS-323 with 2 500gig drives and am happy but I am always looking to do more, I have no problems dumping a nas enclosure for somthing else, but it going to have to be much better.

I have some Big SnapAppliance NAS (4500 & S10) and they work great for me. Have a bandwidth of 480MB/s, on dual GigE network. I dought with my home network that I will ever tax it. You have to weight what kind of data redundency and speed you need. I have close to 3T in raid5 if I bring every thing on line. What you have to realize is server class equipment generate a lot of heat and noise. I had to add extra cooling to the room and install them in a rack to quiet them down. But for me it's worth the trouble, knowing that my NAS is not a bottle neck when I'm doing routine backups.
