    Hi to all
I just bought a dv6t quad (Jan 2012) based on the latest intel processor. According to the manual it is possible to upgrade the wifi to the advanced centrino 6230.
I bought one on ebay and installed but it doesnt start. The bios freezes.

    Anyone knows why ?
Can be that the bios is programmed to recognize only original HP spare parts ? If that is the case i will buy one (more expensive) directly from HP. Before doing that is there anyone who succeeded in the upgrade and can confirm that HP spare part solution work ?
    Any suggestion welcome

Yes, HP BIOSes have a "whitelist" which only allows HP branded wifi cards to work.

I don't know if anyone has made one for your computer, but you may be able to find a modified BIOS with the whitelist disabled.
