Well, i'm setting up a server for a company. I now how to set up user accounts and password with restrict access on windows XP Pro on the network, but some other computer at the work place are windows XP HOME.

I'm looking for a application that secure the shared files with a password when other clients with XP home can access to it does any one have any suggestions.

( i already know the disabled simple file sharing method, now that method doesn't work with computers XP HOME :( )

You have a true network running, correct? On the XP Home computers, make them part of a workgroup with the same name as your domain. Disable the simple logon process on the XP Home computers. Instruct the home users to create passwords. Take those usernames and passwords and add them to your Active Directory users.

Now, the XP Home users can access any shared data on the server, and the access levels you assign on the server are enforced. They can't log on to the network, but at least they can access shared files, printers, etc.

well that only applies as you shared a file from XP home computers.

I'll try the disable simple log on . Very helpful. I'll post back if sucessful.

    Yep it works.. thanks all

First of all: create username and pass on the server/ then on winXP home computer, Create the same username and pass that was created on the server. Log on with that username and password,/ access shared easily.
