Because of the layout of my house, my router has to go in the washer and dryer room. It will be plugged into the same outlet my dryer is plugged into. I have read that routers are apparently particularly susceptible to fluctuations in power.

Will this create spikes and surges for my router, and if so, is there a surge protector or something that someone can suggest for me? Thanks in advance, you guys are awesome :).

While it's in there make sure it's as high up off the ground as possible, so you can get the best signal. As for possble power spikes, I think you should definitely get a surge protector as a bridge between the wall outlet and the router. Take your pick!..they all work the same IMO.

If you're putting it on the same circuit as a high power device like a washer dryer, you might even consider a low end UPS, which will protect it from both surges and dips in power, rather than just surges.
