Im inclined to go the apple route, the asus doesnt seen to have very good reviews

I havent read the reviews for the new router but the old one was good.

but the reviews of the asus arent good as well, maybe I will change my mind reading the review from that site, because in all others it was more like a very average router, with a high price tag

however those are very very bad results for apple

I was out for most of the day so my first post was just a short note.

Now let me elaborate- almost all AC routers on the marker today are first gen routers and if you look closely all are in fact one router.

Almost all of them are based on Broadcom BCM4706 SoC accompanied by BCM4331 2.4GHz radio and BCM4331 5GHz radio and usually 128MB RAM (Asus has 256MB).

The difference is the type or even the existence of amplifiers and quality of the firmware.
The specs above fit: ASUS RT-AC66U, NETGEAR R6300, Buffalo WZR-D1800H and few others

If you're not in a hurry to buy- wait for a second generation of Broadcom chips to hot the market accompanied by whatever Atheros will deliver (they were so late to the marker with first gen that barely any routers are based on their chip).

D-Link DIR-868L which is based on a second generation of Broadcom SoC is already a top performer and that is in spite of it being a D-Link (don't buy D-Link :nah:)

Yeah I noticed that they used the same soc from that review, my current router will have to hold up, aside that the price of the asus here in brazil is the same as of the apple, i.e. U$500

to sum it up if Im spending that much I better get something decent

thanks for the help I will wait
