I was wondering if the expects here could help me a little. I was on the train yesterday and my computer picked up a wireless peer-to-peer network signal (trains in uk dont have wireless on board yet). I was wondering if there's anyway to basically get 2 or more computers to communicate using the wirless card in the laptop? This may not be poss, but if it is then i'm sure someone in this forum will know!
cheers

Yeap, its possible, but you have to set up a wireless network for both machines and have both machines share the same key.
Just go to My network places -> Add a network -> Play around -
Couldn't you make it any more clear?

You have your wireless to connet to all types ADHOC. There is a flag under your wireless network connections that for All (default) or just AP (safer) and connect to all non-prefered networks.
Basicly you just add another network connection. The connection you saw could have been a wireless PDA or smart Phone. -
i dont really follow. So can i generate a wirless link to my comp then without using a router? the thing i picked up was the laptop behind me.

Yes, But be carefull with that. Make sure you have permision to do so. Or something bad could happen. You proably will not have internet access.
When you connect pc to pc it's called ADHOC. It fine if you are in a network of other users and need to for shareing files. -
ok that makes more sense. what do u mean that i have to be careful and something bad could happen, like what? can someone tell me in the step by step guide to setting that up please. I dont want to destroy my wireless network and not have access to internet ever again so is there a way of having another connection that i can use aswell?
thanks -
I would be interested in this too, could some one please let us know as to how to go about setting up a ad-hocconnection between two laptops?
Thanks
