    Hello,
A while ago I received a Gateway MT3707 as a gift. It came with Vista installed, so I played around with it, then stopped using my laptop, as my desktop was better.
Now I am using it again, and hate vista. So I installed XP Home Edition. I got all the drivers I needed, and wireless no longer works.
Wireless worked when it was Vista, and nothing has changed but the OS on the computer. I can plug in an Ethernet cable and connect to the Internet, but the router wont even respond to the computer when it is wireless.
I have tried everything I know, and am kind of desperate for help. ANY ideas?

Are you sure you got the correct driver for the wireless network card - the XP version of that driver, that is?

    Yes
I have also tried manually updating the driver with windows update (through the device manager), and it tells me that it could not find a better match for the hardware than the software that is already installed.
I have done this for both the wireless card and the modem.

You would be better off going to Gateway's support website and checking to see what the most recent driver for your system is. If there's a newer one, you should first uninstall the old driver and then install the new driver.

Oh, this is wonderful. I have tried a different driver, and I had to uninstall the one I had, and now my wireless card wont even show up on the device list, and the new driver wont install unless you specifically update the device with that driver in the wizard. I am about ready to throw the laptop out the window. Anybody like to shoot trap?
