Bought this laptop and it rarley picks up my router which is 20 feet away  Just installed an automatic update for the WiFi 5100 drivers last night and no change. Any help?

My girlfriends $500 HP gets my router all day long?

I guess if people say its the router then how come she gets the signal? Its embarrassing. Come on FX partners help me out! :D

What I would do is uninstall every device in networking through device manager. Then Scan for hardware changes, and let it install the drivers to defaults, and see what happens.

I type in the linksys config page ip address (192.168.1.1) and it doesnt even find it? Any help on what is going on or how i reconfig this thing?

Ok..so i held the reset button on the back of the linksys router for 10 sec then typed in the IP address for the router as I guess i will want to reconfigure the thing? (Do I?) It asked for my username and password...I KNOW i have the correct one but it keeps telling me its wrong. 2 questions.

    1. What do I do if I cant get in? Anyway to reset username and password?

    2. IF I do get in, what must I do (where do I go) to reset the router and get it back up and running

Currently I dont even pick up its signal in my available network

Using the ethernet cord works great so I know its not the modem or service

SO since my current router is a b router my card in not compatable. And I believe my Intel 5100AGN would best support a N router (or am I wrong would a G work just as well or decently?) Anyway, i just want a cheap router that will work well with my laptop/card? Any suggestions on models? Also, G or N?

802.11g or 802.11n is your choice. If you want cheap, go to eBay and buy a Linksys WRT54G router. It's 802.11g, your card will work with it, and you won't spend more than $50 on it.
