Anybody have any trouble getting the intel proset software to work properly? I get invalid Mac address errors when trying to set it up.

The computer indicates that the wireless is there, signal strength excellent, data is transferring, etc. but I cannot seem to get it to configure so I can get on the internet with it. If I plug in a pc-card style wireless card, it works fine. something with the configuration is not right, and I'm at a loss.

OK, I know it sounds obvious but is it possible that for security reasons the owner of the access point configured it to only work with the MAC address on the PC card that you borrowed for your test?

Have you tried removing the Intel software? Mine came with Atheros software that I removed...that application is bloatware if you ask me, especially with some of the enhancements in SP2.

Actually, that's the exact problem I have, after installing the SP2, it screw up the proset software. All you have to do is uninstall the proset, and reinstall it. it's important that you uninstall it first.

    Hi Everyone,

I believe I am getting this problem as well (invalid mac address in the Intel PROSet software), I have a Enpower CL-56 Premier Plus, centrino w/ bells and whistles, etc.

Just did a fresh install with a new copy of Windows XP Pro, did the OEM "one touch driver install", and I get this problem.

Somehow the card is not communicating correctly.
    Symptoms:
    1. I have no access points in the list where I usually have 5 or six, not including mine and my neighbor's, who maintains an insecure wireless AP.
    2. Says I have full strength to "default" (my neighbor) but connection has only sent 1 pkt and received 0 pkts.

I have reintalled the Intel PROSet software, rebooted, checked the device mgr, and the bios. I'm out of ideas ... at least until I eat some dinner.

    Please Help.

    Ryan

Okay, freeman has a partial solution. You need to uninstall the Intel PROWireless software, but you also need to uninstall the card from device manager, and reboot. After that, even _before_ I reinsalled the PROSet software, I was able to see access points and get online. Hope this helps someone else.
