I have a guy selling a Cisco Catalyst 3560 Series PoE-24 switch with 11 Cisco Air LAP1131AG-A-K9 wireless access points. What would you value this at? I'm trying to decide if it's worth my time to resell this system..? The access points show up on Newegg for $450ea and on Amazon for $330 I think. I realize they're a few years old so idk what demand would be like.

The other thing is how are these devices set up? Is it feasible to use something like this in a home/small business setting?

While I can't tell you how to value your time, I'd advise you to be careful. Older stuff of this nature doesn't sell fast unless it's dirt cheap.

Of course, if you're getting the set for $75 and it hasn't fallen off the truck, I'd say go for it.

You'll find setup guides on Cisco's site.

I see no use for something of this nature at one's home, but to each his/hers own.

As for the small business, a lot will depend on the needs of the particular business. These units make sense only if you're running on a couple of T-1s or a "business-grade" cable connection.

That being said, a lot of these higher-end deals - be it through telco or cable company - already include an Adtran or Cisco router as a part of the initial offering...

    My $0.02 only...

He's only asking 45 (+15 to deliver as he lives an hour away. I'm thinking I can get it for 50 delivered). He says that they've upgraded their system so theyve got no use for this one.. No software included, but what software would one need with this?

Think I could feasibly ask $50 an access point and $100 for the switch? Even if I sell the access points for $10 a piece, I'm still doubling my money I guess.

The cheapest router of that type on feebay was over $300...

Even if you were to sell it at half of that (something along the lines of $175 shipped or best offer) you're good...

    Your $$$ your call.

    Good luck.

At 50 bucks he's selling them all that for, I'd grab them. Reset, test out, and sell on ebay with a heavy undercut. Profit no matter what. Maybe keep 1 Aironet for home if I was in your shoes. They're decent devices although the webgui is really slow.

Once you reset it, you'll need to look up the guide/user man. Those aironets aren't the typical hold reset down until reset but like hold down 8seconds, release, hold again 8seconds. Hook up to ethernet and login to the sucka on whatever subnet its on.

Are you planning on actually using it or just selling it off for some quick profit?

Demand may not be high, but you can easily make a profit on them reselling (look! you already got a taker for $200).

Make sure they're stable before you go through with a sale though, and offer a return policy period; you're more likely to get bites, and you can even add a little to your selling price by doing that.
