    Hello,

I have a xp desktop and an hp vista laptop and i want to share files like movies, tv shows, and music between them. My desktop has all of the files so i went into my documents went under sharing and security chose the folder and clicked apply and ok. Now there is a hand under the folder so i'm guessing that it's sharing.

Did i do it right if so how do i see those files on my vista laptop. If i did it wrong what do i do next.

thank's in advance for your help

I did the same thing recently as well. I did it with an xp desktop, an xp Gateway laptop, a vista gateway laptop, and my vista hp laptop.

The first thing you need to do, I believe, is make sure that they are all in the same workgroup. Then, for vista, go into the "network sharing centre" and make sure that sharing files is enabled.

Then, for both, go into "my computer" and make sure that the specific folders that you want to share, ie. the ones that you want the other computers to be able to access, have sharing enabled.

    hope this helps
