The easiest way I found was to just share the drive by right clicking it >> properties >> sharing. Then if the 'share' button is deactivated go into 'advanced sharing' and share it over your network. After that you can follow the same steps to share/unshare by just using the 'share' button.

If you are using password protected sharing, you might have to change the user permissions as well. That is what i had to do in order to access the drives in my desktop. I needed full access privileges, not just read though.

I am trying to do this as well but for some reason it doesn't work, the computers are on the same work group, in the same home group and have the same login information but for some reason. is there away to map the drive and login with the credentials of the computer sharing the drive?

    Any help is appreciated

Did you edit the permissions as needed? I remember i had to mess quite deeply into the system to get everything to work. Also, if your credentials (user and password) are the same between the multiple computers, you won't need to input your user and password to gain access.

One more thing, i have homegroup disabled and sharing set to password protected only. From then i edited the permissions in the folders i wanted to access to give full access to the account i use to login on the computer. Afterwards, just went into network, double clicked on the computer i want to access, enter credentials (i voluntarily use different accounts names/passwords) and gain access with full permissions.

Well, it is either homegroup or password protected sharing. Homegroup was most likely created to allow easy sharing of media files/libraries rather that get full access to multiple non user folders and drives.
