I called Dell to ask how could I use a PC card that I just bought from Cingular on my Inspiron E1705 notebook and I was told that the card wasn't useful due to the fact that I needed an "express Wireless Card"... I went today to Cingular and they told me they don't handle a different type of card.
So I went to Verizon as well and they told me there are not pc cards for this type of computer (for this slot) in the market. They told me that Verizon will be the first company offering them but that will happen on June. Can anybody please confirm that this is correct and that there is no way I can get wireless internet on my brand new computer because there is not technology to back it up?
    Thanks!!!

You're not the only one in this very situation. See here:

Unfortunately I don't think any wireless adapters are made for the Express slot yet. The alternative is to get a usb wireless adapter. And if you get the type with a cord (i.e. not the type like a flash drive), you will have the advantage of being able to position it to pick up the best signal

    Lorena,

The Express/54 slot in the e1705 is the replacement for the old PC Cards used for the last 10 years. Its alot faster, lower power, and cheaper to produce... but its new and there isnt much made for it yet. Eventually all machines and cards will likely be Express/54 or Express/34 cards (your slot will take both of those).

Cellular providers are typically rather slow with providing PC card services... with PC cards only available in the past couple years. I dont think there are any Express cards on the market yet.
