    I have a Dell XPS 1530. It's less than a month old.

In the past day or so I get bumped off the Internet with the message that Windows Exploring is closing. Then I get the "looking for a solution to the problem" and then I'm logged back on. This has been happening more and more frequently.

I am connecting to the Internet wirelessly. I have an Intel wireless card and am using ATT/SBC DSL as my ISP. Until yesterday, I've had no trouble at all. I'm not even sure whether this is a wireless issue, an explorer issue or a DSL problem.

Any ideas of what to do?

Firstly try Resetting IE7. Go to Control Panel-->Internet Options-->click the Advanced Tab and at the bottom click Reset and reset IE7s settings. This should work..if it doesn't...continue reading!

Turn off UAC as post#6 stated in this link. Steps to disable UAC...I suggest using method 4 if u have to do this step.

I don't recommend to turn off the UAC, you will be putting IE at risk.

Thanks for the tip. I've been on the computer for about six hours and not a sign of being bumped off. That's without doing anything.

But, when I booted up this morning, I got a blue screen which said something about having problems shutting down. (The screen disappeared before I could copy what it said.) Then I got a black screen telling me that there had been a problem with it shutting down and asked whether I wanted to go into safe mode to solve the problem. Before I could do anything else, the computer restarted.

??????? Are all these things just Vista quirks?

Not at all. When somehow you shut the computer down without letting Windows to backup your data, these happens. So next time the BIOS will ask you whether you want to re-start normally or in safe mode, I normally ignore that message and let the system to boot as usual. Now if that process continues to show at the beginning then it means that something is wrong and yes, start windows in safe made and check what is wrong. Sometimes you might need to do a clean installation.

The best is to create a "restore point", that is, in the same BIOS menu it will also ask you if you want to start windows at a moment you think everything was working well, then you will say yes, and that should do it.

I didn't reset it so far, and have no problems getting bumped all day. I'm ready to try it the moment I'm thrown off. Do you think I should do it now?

Oh no..if it's not acting up now I guess u don't have too but that was a recommendation that I read. Something to do w/ the "Add-Ons" in IE7. So if it acts up just try the reset and see if it occurs again.

And I know disabling or turning off the UAC isn't recomended unless otherwise absolutely neccessary but if it is being a humbug and that would fix the issue then hey....
