I have a Dell 6000 Inspiron that I have connected to a Motorola SURFboard Cable modem. It works fine as long as I use the USB cable to hook to my laptop. The problem is when I try to use an ethernet cable. It seems to connect fine as indicated on the network connections page in XP. What is not working is trying to load web pages. It will time out and show the page that says no connection is found or something like that.
It's not the cable-I've tried 3 different cables. It's not the browser. I get the same results with IE as I do with Firefox.
Any suggestions of what I can check or look at would be appreciated.

    Thanks

I think that you should have got a CD that the Internet provider gives you, and that sets up all the stuff you need. I have the same make of modem, and i got one of those with it. Try it, it may work.
