When click on my Ethernet Controller in Device Manager I get this message:
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.

To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.

When I click update driver I am greeted with this message:

Windows could not find driver software for your device.

If you know the manufacturer of your device, you can visit its website and check the support section for driver software.

I do not know the manufacturer. I have an Alienware m17x r3 laptop and need help to find the drivers needed.

Most likely it's an Atheros AR8151 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller - this should work.
