I just got a HP Envy 15 last week, after unfortunately having to return a dv6t due to missing bluetooth. I'm curious as to what expectations should be for wireless speed. I had a Linksys WRT310N router and could only achieve 10 Mbps on a 20Mbps connection. HP thought it was my router so I used a performance plan from Fry's to take it in and exchange for a WRT320N. There is no change in performance :( Here's my issue:

    - I get strong signal showing on the laptop although speed tests only manage 7 to 10 Mbps.
    - My desktop (wired) is getting the full 20 Mbps.
    - The dv6t and my girlfriend's 5-year old Sony Vaio both got/get around 17 to 18 Mbps.

Why is mine so much slower? I've tried everything (settings), install new driver, etc. It doesn't necessarily need to be equal to the other two laptops but I think it shouldn't be like half of what the connection or what they're getting. The laptop is only about 30 feet away from the router. Thoughts? Should I do another laptop exchange?

it would help if you post the wireless cards model

The wireless card is an Intel Centrino Advanced N 6200. Yes, I have looked at the settings on the wireless device, and all seem to be optimized, as far as I can tell.

seeing other envy users with poor wireless performance on intel 6200,
you might wanna check how many antennas does the envy use ..
if it's only one that'll explain the performance issue :D

Not really... 802.11b/g use only one antenna, and 20Mbps should be well within g territory. Maybe check the MTU settings? All power saving settings are off? Latest updates to Win7 and your drivers?

I'm getting full signal...or at least the laptop is showing such. It is just the download speed that is lagging. All power saving settings are off. Drivers are the latest from Intel. MTU is set at 1500. I tried going a little lower, but that didn't do anything.
