Is there a way / technique that can be used to edit a file by using 2+ PC's.

ex. I have 2 PC's and have a Microsoft Office/Program file to work on. Instead of being restricted to doing my work on one PC on that particular file, is there a way that I can continue my work on said file, but using either of the 2 PC's at any point in time? Like say, I worked on the file via desktop, but a half hour later I want to work on the same file via laptop.

Depends how complex you want the document to be. One solution is to use Google Docs (free). You can have multiple people editing a file in real time, it's really quite amazing. There are limitations, though.

You could use Office Live Workspace for Office 2007.

Do you mean the file is OPEN on your desktop and you walk away from it and want to access it from another machine, or can you close it and then open it on another machine.

If the latter, just share the folder on the one computer and access it across the network on the other. You can open files across a network--it's a little slower depending on the file, but actually working on it is just like having it on your machine. Then save it.

As above, just create a network sharing between the two computers so you can access the file from either computers.

You can even use remote desktop connection on your laptop to make it exactly like your desktop computer.

Another alternative is getting webspace to store your files in, so you can down/upload your work to any computer aslong as you have internet connection.
