How easy is it to get a wireless laptop to connect to the interneT?

DO you have to configure the router/wireless card etc.? or is it like plug and play easy?

If so, how easy it is?

It is easy to connect to the internet but it is a little harder to connect to another computer

So if I get a centrino enabled notebook, or any other notebook with a wireless network card..

I will be able to access the internet through my wireless modem (Quest Actiontec one) without having to configure/change settings?

I just walk in and try to connect?

You'll need a password if you've enabled that, but more or less, yes. You'll have to tell your notebook which network to connect to, if there's a password it will prompt you for one.

Or to put it another way, if the wireless software for the card is already installed, when you boot up, there will be an icon in the tray for the wireless card. Right click on this and select "View Available Wireless Networks". Next a list will come up and the name of your network will be there. If you have enabled WEP encryption on your desktop there will be an indication that it is Secured. When you highlight it and then click the Connect button, you will be asked for the WEP key (same as password) that you entered when you installed the wireless modem. I hope you made a note of the WEP key.

    Hope this helps.
